Concept development for an oversized seating landscape designed for multiple people and multiple ways of use.
TOPO is less a classical sofa than a spatial object: a soft topography for sitting, leaning, lying, gathering and withdrawing. Different levels, angles and surfaces invite the body to find its own position rather than prescribing a single way of sitting.
The design follows an add-on principle inspired by the idea of dressing. Cushions, bags and textile elements can be placed, attached or “thrown over” the structure like garments. In this way, the object can change its character, function and atmosphere depending on use, context and mood.
Focus: a multifunctional seating landscape with sculptural presence, flexible use and textile intelligence.
In the context of informal workspaces, social interiors and new ways of inhabiting furniture.
