Three-Dimensional Flexible Office Chair
____________________________________________
Although the project was not brought to market, it explored a highly relevant question: how can ergonomic movement, structural stability and material reduction be integrated into a compact seating system?
The chair was developed with a simplified, micro-sized mechanism placed within the cover. This allowed the technical complexity to remain largely hidden, while still enabling flexible three-dimensional movement.
The seat was investigated as a thermoplastic polyurethane shell and as a bionic structure with internal braces. Technical structures, perforations, textile patterns and load-bearing fabrics were developed as active components of the chair’s performance.
Focus: three-dimensional movement, integrated micro-mechanics, bionic structures and load-bearing textile development.
